On the 30/1/2024 Merlindale Nature's manager Apithanny Bourne travelled to Wester Ulston in Jedburgh to help seed our first site for the project. The owners of the site, June and Chris Bradley, initially got involved in the project after wanting to make a mini meadow around their pond, starting from scratch; they now can't wait to see what insects they'll find come summer.

I really enjoyed reading about the Tweed Meadows Project because restoring natural habitats is something that can positively impact both wildlife and local communities for years to come. A few summers ago, I volunteered in a small planting project near my neighborhood, and it made me appreciate how much patience and planning environmental work actually requires. During that same period, I even thought about whether to hire someone to do my class for me because balancing studies and volunteer commitments became stressful. Projects like this are inspiring because they encourage people to reconnect with nature in meaningful ways.
